Best Airless Paint Sprayers Detailed Review
1Graco Magnum X5 Stand Airless Paint Sprayer
When it comes to the best airless paint sprayers, the Graco Magnum is a hands-down winner! The first thing we loved was its affordability. The unit was well within a decent price range, yet still was a high-quality product. We recommend washing the device before use to avoid any clogging problems.
The part we absolutely despise about sprayers is cleaning them up, yet the Graco had an easy to use PowerFlush Adapter which helped us clean the unit in no time. All you need to do is hook it up to the garden hose and you’re good to go.
The device feels sturdy enough and produces consistent spray patterns with minimal effort. We tried using unthinned paint straight from the can, and it seemed to work quite well. However, we recommend you thin down heavier stuff such as Latex.
The Graco Magnum is an all-rounder in our opinion. It’s not too heavy, weighing at 13 lbs and it supports up to 75 feet of paint hose. This allowed us to lug it around the house easily and paint those hard-to-reach spots without any difficulty!
However, we did find that the sprayer tended to tip over due to lesser weight. It was hard to learn and initially it used up more paint than a brush. We also noted the device could not suck out of the can even when we had a solid 2 inch of paint left. So, we recommend practicing it a few times, else, you might risk your project.
- Affordable yet high quality
- It can be used to spray unthinned paint.
- Easy to set up and use
- Durable, portable and easy to clean.
- Spray Pattern won’t tanned or uneven using this sprayer.
- It tends to tip over due to lesser weight at the base.
- The device loses suction if there is lesser paint in the can.
Who is it Built For?
We recommend the Graco Airless Paint Sprayer for hobbyists and DIY homeowners looking for a steady and smooth paint job for home projects.
2DUSICHIN DUS-036 Airless Paint Spray Gun
Dusichin is a brand renowned for their affordable and high-quality sprayers. The Dusichin DUS-36 is actually a spray gun designed to be used in combination with your favorite sprayer. We found this frustrating as it is useless by itself unless you connect it to a sprayer.
When using it, we noticed how easy it was to use since it only used a 4 finger trigger. We found we had much better control of the spraying pattern. Overall, we thought the spray pattern to be quite consistent and smooth. This gun is a great option for when you want a pocket-friendly sprayer that is high quality.
The device was generally easy to use and did not require us to open up the manual. It was very easy to clean as well because it was smaller than most sprayers.
However, we did notice that it tends to leak paint from the fitting. Many users had the exact same problem while others complained of inconsistent splatter. So, we would only recommend this device in case of emergencies.
- The device is small and portable.
- It is easy to clean and carry.
- Easy to use.
- The gun is very affordable.
- Has to be connected to a full sprayer.
- It tends to leak paint from the fitting.
Who is it built for?
The Dusichin is perfect for small home projects and small DIY projects such as a birdhouse or a table. The gun is perfect for beginners as it is not complicated to learn. However, we would only recommend it in case of emergencies.
3HomeRight Power Flo Airless Paint Sprayer -Pro 2800 – Spray Gun
If you’re looking for the best airless paint sprayers, then perhaps the HomeRight Power Flow can serve you the best. The sprayer gun is perfect for larger projects such as sheds, fences and even house exteriors.
The best part? It allowed us to even control the spray pattern. Users easily customized the way the paint flows for a truly unique finish. We found it perfect for uneven textures such as house exteriors.
We were initially a little skeptical about buying it, however, we were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to use and learn. The device was quite affordable as well.
However, we did find that the cleanup was harder and not as effortless as with the other units. We did have some problems with leakages, however, they were easily fixed. We recommend beginners to test the product out with water first as it will easily indicate any leakages.
It was smaller so for painting roofs, you might need to elevate the unit. Overall, we find the product performed better than we expected!
- Easy to use and quick.
- The pressures and spraying patterns can be easily customized.
- The product is backed by a 2-year
- You can use unthinned paint directly from the can.
- Small and portable.
- The device cleanup is harder.
- It suffers from some production inconsistencies.
Who is it built for?
The HomeRight Power Flo is perfect for those DIY enthusiasts who refuse professional help and want to add in a pinch of personal flair to their homes.
4Graco Magnum X7 Cart – 262805 – Airless Paint Sprayer
The Graco X7 Airless paint sprayer is quite like the X5, sharing many of the same features. Performance wise, they are both high quality, however, the X7 is much heavier, weighing at a decent 23 lbs. This made it much more stable than the X5, but it made it harder for us to push around.
We did find that the sprayer had a steeper learning curve due to its bigger size, but when we read the manual, it seemed simple enough. We found the X7 to be much more stable and more consistent. It was quicker than its cousin and resulted in smoother paint.
We could easily paint our roof with it because it supported a 100-foot hose, which meant it could reach most elevated places quite easily. We were glad to find the sprayer was clog proof as well and easily reversed the tip when we faced a few gum-ups!
However, we did find it difficult to lug around the house and the workshop due to its larger weight. The unit was noisier than most and in our opinion, the hose was too stiff. We kept trying to make it work, but it would just curl up and spray paint all over the place.
- Clog proof with a reversible tip.
- Powerful motor and quicker spraying times.
- It is durable and very easy to clean.
- You can use it to spray unthinned paint.
- It has a steep learning curve.
- The device is much heavier and difficult to carry around.
- The hose is too stiff.
Who is it built for?
We highly recommend the Graco as it is the best Airless paint sprayer. It is best suited for DIY enthusiasts with bigger projects. Beginners will find it hard to learn how to operate.
5Graco Magnum Project Painter and Paint Sprayer
Another device from Graco Magnum, the Project Painter plus Paint Sprayer is perhaps the best airless paint sprayers for beginners. Unlike its counterparts, we found it much easier to learn.
This paint sprayer comes with all the bells and whistles usually associated with the Graco including PowerFlush Adapter which makes it easier to clean. What we liked about the Project Painter is that it is small and easy to store. It even had a small compartment to store tools.
We were delighted to find the device to be extremely lightweight, weighing merely 10 lbs. So, we could easily move it around with ease. The nozzle is a bit wide, so we ended up over-spraying. However, the wider nozzle made it easier for us to use unthinned paint so we have no complaints!
In terms of performance, it had a smooth pattern and did the job quickly. However, due to the wide nozzle, we found difficulty in painting smaller and more precise areas. Another concern we had was how much it wasted paint. It used up huge volumes and required at least 5 inches of paint in the bucket before it would start suctioning.
- Lightweight, portable and a decent learning curve.
- It allows you ultimate control of the spraying pressures.
- Can easily spray unthinned paint.
- Paint job can be done impeccably.
- Quick and easy to clean.
- It has a lesser power rating.
- Uses up a lot of paint.
Who is it built for?
The device is best for beginners and hobbyists as it is smaller and easy to operate. However, due to its lesser rating, we would not recommend this for painting walls or larger projects
Although all of our 5 products performed well, we truly believe each of them can be perfect for different people. So, to help you pick out the best one, we have compiled a buying guide. Here are some considerations you need to make before buying the best airless paint sprayer for yourself.
One of the first features to look at is the power rating of the power. Of course, the higher the power rating, the better the device will perform. Higher powered motors deliver faster painting times as they push out more paint.
For smaller DIY projects, we recommend anything above 0.23 gpm while for larger in-house projects such as painting walls, we recommend you look for something that delivers 0.3 gpm, at least.
Another criterion for checking power is the maximum pressure it can deliver. For smaller projects, we recommend something around 2500 psi while for larger ones, 3000 psi will suffice.
Next, you need to determine what length the hose should be for your specific purpose. If you’re going for smaller projects, smaller hose lengths are fine. However, if you want to paint walls and doors, we recommend you look for something that supports a larger hose length. This allows you much more mobility and you can easily use them for painting things at higher elevations.
We generally recommend the hose length to be 50 feet so you can easily use it anywhere.
You do not want to end up scrubbing paint from the sprayer for hours on end. This is why we recommend going for sprayers that are easy to clean. Some sprayers come equipped with a separate pipe that allows you to easily flush all the paint out.
Next, you need the device to be portable. You would hate to lug it around from your house to workshop. Trust us! So, ensure that the device you choose is smaller and lighter. However, if you do have to go to a larger unit, go for one that comes with wheels like the Magnum X7.
After careful research, we have come to the conclusion that the Magnum X5 is the absolute best for beginners as well as amateurs. The device can be used for all kinds of projects and paint jobs. It delivers the most flawless paint finish and can even use unthinned paint. You can easily control the pressures and the patterns. Furthermore, the device is easy to clean up and has a hose length of about 75 feet.
Don’t believe us? Try it yourself! The X5 is officially expert-approved
